Zombie Kids

ZOMBIE KIDS FOREVER

My friends The Zombie Kids after they played at Social Club in Paris. MY favorite DJS and legends from all the lands. The Zombie Kids are from Madrid, Spain and they have created one of the biggest club movements in Spain. They have been throwing the best parties and making music constantly. They have started their own club Zombie Club that is one of the funnest nights in Madrid, as well as their own clothing line, and bar. They have a group of incredible artists working with them and have really changed the nightlife in Spain. The Zombie Kids are Edgar Candel Kerri, Cumhur Jay and IKKI. They recently won Best Spanish Artist at the MTV European awards for their debut album.

They have been traveling all over the world with their album titled The Zombie Kids, it is out on Universal Spain. I was lucky enough to collaborate with them on a song called "Ocean" that I'm very in love with. Their songs are incredibly fun, dark, and uplifting. The record was made with several collaborations they did with many artists including especially Aqueel who they work very closely with. My favorite song off the record is "Spanish Sauce Mafia" with the Party Harders that is the song I listen to anytime I am getting ready to leave my house or am in a shit mood, I promise you it will take you out of any dark hole you're in. I also love "Vampire" with Aqueel, the beat and synths are fun and the words show a vulnerability I think all of us have with life. Its filled with positive lyrics yet full of fear as well.   The entire record is great from start to finish and they keep you drawn in all the way thru. I look forward to seeing the bigger things that are coming for Zombie Kids especially in the US. Their record has yet to come out in the US but you can purchase their song FACE on Itunes now. Zombie Kids will be in America soon enough melting our faces off, in due time.

amor y jamon

AMOR Y JAMON,

i love you something special

The other day he told me a story about him as a baby boy, and by a baby boy I mean he was probably about eight years old. I hope he doesn't mind that I share this story with you so I will call him Sebastian. Sebastian told me the story about how when he was eight years old his grandmum's last meal was a chorizo sandwich. She always took care of her figure and never allowed herself to eat that way so he found this to be quite odd, even at eight we notice these things that most people allow to pass them by. She took him to the park that day along with four of his cousins. Sebastian felt a very warm air from her, something he hasn't seen in so long. She was sad for what seemed his whole life and this was the first time he had seen her smile with her big brown eyes. Grandmum took the kids back home to their apartment in the middle of Madrid. She baked them a cake and gave them milk with their cake. She sang old religious songs loudly in the kitchen without a radio, without an instrument,  A cappella. The milk must've been drugged because the kids woke up hours later to a locked door and a screaming woman on the other side of the door. The screaming woman was his mum, and she was trying to instruct the children on how to open the door. Eventually they opened the door, they weren't allowed near the balcony that day and when they asked where their grandmum was there was a dark cold silence from mum. The entire neighborhood came into their home, and he still did not know what was the commotion and felt he was awake in a dream. Everyone around him was acting strangely towards him and it wasn't until he attended her funeral did he know he wouldn't ever see her again, at least not alive.

Carlos Diez

I had first heard about Carlos Diez in November of 2010 when my friend Maria Escote had introduced us on skype. She was visiting Los Angeles from Spain and had told me only beautiful things about him. I was in Madrid in March when my friend Pepa took me to his store to buy a pair of pants she had on that I was obsessed with. We went to a show at Joy Eslava that night and I had on his clothes when we ran into him. It was the most epic way to accidentally meet someone. I returned to Carlos' store in Madrid in January, he is a beautiful genius with the most amazing energy and personality. He makes you feel like home.

He also carries Maria Escote (also a genius I have the honor of knowing) and really unique men's shirts by Juanma Cabezon. Maria and Carlos will be doing their shows together for Madrid's Cibeles in a few weeks, and its a real drag that I won't get to see it in person.

zombie bar madrid

zombie bar is my favorite bar in madrid. hands down the best looking bar, the best food, drinks, coffee, desserts and you will run into all of the most interesting people all day long. if you're ever in madrid this is the first place you need to run over to, they play johnny cash, nirvana and skate videos all day and it really makes you think of home. you literally feel like you're at your friends house down the street.  if i lived in madrid this would be my office. if i had this bar in la i would replace the pig, intelligensia and casbah for them any day.
